Working in Draper
What we see in Draper yards
Draper climbs from the valley floor near the Jordan River all the way up to SunCrest on Traverse Ridge, and conditions change a lot along the way. A yard in the Draper Historic District near Pioneer Road is a very different job from a home on the slopes above Corner Canyon or South Mountain.
Much of east Draper is built on old Lake Bonneville shoreline benches, so the ground is full of gravel, cobble, and rock. That soil drains fast, which means lawns dry out quickly in July and August, and running a new sprinkler line often means digging around rock. On sloped lots we set heads and run times so water soaks in instead of running down the hill. For rock beds and shrubs, we often recommend drip lines instead of spray heads.
Elevation matters too. SunCrest sits well above the valley, so it usually freezes earlier in the fall and gets more snow than the rest of Draper. We schedule SunCrest blowouts early in the season and plan snow routes around steep driveways. Down near the Point of the Mountain, steady winds can push sprinkler spray off target and dry out lawns, so we adjust nozzles and watering times to match.
Some Draper neighborhoods also use secondary irrigation water, which shuts off for the season in the fall. If your home has it, we'll time your blowout around that shut-off date.

Caring for Draper's Newer Neighborhoods and HOA Communities
Much of Draper was built in the last few decades, and many neighborhoods were planned as HOA communities with shared entrances, park strips and common lawns. These properties need steady, predictable care, and we set our work up to match.
Newer homes: Original sprinkler layouts on newer homes are often basic, with spotty coverage. Our sprinkler installation can add or rework zones so the whole lawn gets the right amount of water, and a fall sprinkler winterization protects the system before the early freezes on higher ground.
HOA communities: We offer HOA landscape maintenance that covers mowing, irrigation checks, cleanups and winter snow for common areas. Board members get one point of contact.
Spring startup: Draper's elevation changes mean spring arrives at different times across the city. We schedule each sprinkler startup once the risk of a hard freeze has passed where you live, not just by the calendar. During each startup, we check every zone and set up your controller for the season.
Businesses: For shopping and office properties along the I-15 corridor, our commercial maintenance keeps grounds clean and presentable year-round.
